My Self-Care Garden

I've been wanting to tell you something. I started a garden in February. That may seem odd for those of you with a green thumb. But it wasn’t your typical garden. The garden I’m really taking about is my Self-Care Garden and it exists on a white board in my office. I received some advice from my Business Coach to put sales and marketing on hold and double down on my self-care. She challenged me to play. To make it a game. What if I amped my self-care up 10%, 20% or 30%? If you know me, you know that I’m always up for a challenge so I happily took it on. I also know myself well enough to know that I needed some accountability. Without accountability, I tend to lose track of my self-care practices. So, I went to the white board in my office and I started to draw different colored flowers. I chose one color for each of my self-care practices. Pink is meditation, purple is yoga, blue is baths, green is affirmations and so on… I decided that I’d color in one petal on each flower for every time that I completed a practice. Over the past 12 weeks, I have LOVED seeing that garden grow and come to life. And wouldn’t you know it? As my garden grew, so did my business. Even better, it grew with ease. Seeds that I had planted long ago (pun intended) started to bloom. I’ve hesitated to share this for a while, because my garden feels so personal. It’s this off-beat, private little practice that I created that has made such a difference in my life. And well, I feel a little protective over it. But it’s exactly those protective feelings that let me know that I’m onto something. So, here it is...My Self-Care Garden! Perhaps this will inspire you to start your own garden. Or even better, maybe it’ll inspire you to do self-care in your own way.
